Review: Dickies Classic Seat Covers

Review: Dickies Classic Seat Covers

If you’ve been considering a pair of seat covers for your car, you’ll find this review helpful. This week EV Rider reviews a pair of Genuine Dickies Classic 2 Piece Low Back Car Seat Covers in Espirit Red.

When I bought my Mustang Mach-E I wanted a high-utility vehicle that still had a biz of pizazz.

I’m using it for a lot of long-distance travel that includes car camping, along with hauling bicycles and kayaks to area waterways, as well as making trips to Jacksonville, FL’s area beaches.

That means the car’s nice space gray interior would be potentially exposed to lots of sweat and grime during summer months. I decided a pair of easy-on, easy off-seat covers were the solution to avoiding grimy seats.

I use them when I’m sweaty or otherwise dirty but because they’re fast to put on and take off in about a minute each, I still have those nice light seats for nights on the town or when sweat or grim isn’t a concern. See the video at the top of this post for a demonstration of how to put the seat covers on and take them off.

After a bit of research I settled on a pair of Dickies Classic two-piece low back car seat covers in espirit red with white stripes. At the time of this video’s posting they cost about $37.74 at Walmart.

These are universal fit seats so they are not a solution if you’re looking for seat covers that look factory perfect.

On the Mach-E wrinkles do show no matter how much you fuss with them. On a SUV or pickup with larger seats the fit would likely be a bit more taunt.

Among the pros of these seat covers: they’re affordable, fast to put on and take off and the durability appears good.

As for cons, if your seat has storage pockets, you’ll lose access to them while the covers are on, and at least in the case of the Mach-E, the seats are loose enough fitting that you’ll notice wrinkles and bunching.

Overall, I’m giving the Dickies four out of five stars.

Part of the reason for a four-star rating is what I consider to be somewhat deceptive advertising. The product photos make the seats covers appear to be more form fitting than they actually are. If you look closely at the product photos, which are in the video at the top of this post, it’s obvious they were Photoshopped as opposed to showing real pictures of the seat covers on an actual car.

But, if you’re looking for inexpensive; easy on, easy off seat covers and aren’t worried about a perfect fit, then these will do the trick.

EV Rider gave the seat covers 4 out of 5 stars rating.
