It turns out General Motors and Honda have quite a bit of common when it comes to 2024 Honda’s Prologue EV.
Built at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico, the Prologue shares GM’s Ultium platform, which also underpins the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Equinox EV.
Honda’s first electric SUV features an 85-kWh lithium battery pack that can add up to 65-miles of range in about 10 minutes under ideal DC charging conditions, with a peak factory rated charging speed of 155 kilowatts. Its peak level 2 charge rate is 11.5kW.
EV Rider’s 2024 Prologue Elite test car is priced in the sweet spot of the mid-size SUV EV market. Honda says its Prologue qualifies for the full $7,500 U.S. EV tax credit, with the base price of the single-motor version slotting in at just under $39,900, with the credit added in. But be aware that the credit does have some income restrictions so not everyone will qualify.
Fully optioned, the dual-motor, AWD Elite trim that EV Rider tested comes in at just under $58,000. Those prices are before taxes, delivery and handling are figured in, and as always, prices are subject to change.
Honda Prologue EV Driving Impressions
After picking up the Prologue I jumped onto Jacksonville, FL’s Interstate-295. As I headed from the Northside to the Southside, my first impressions of the Prologue were good. It offered a smooth interstate ride, doing a nice job soaking up the bumps.
AutomotiveAddicts.com Publisher Malcolm Hogan had the Prologue for a full week. He summarized it this way: “A 0-60 [mph] is about six seconds, not the fastest thing. Not the fastest SUV in the market, of course. But you do get that instantaneous torque and it feels like it’s faster than it is. Sometimes you can get people off the line. I like the Prologue’s gauge cluster. It’s gave me a decent amoung of data without being too busy. The display is very legible and provides information such as kW per mile. Our upper trim model also had a heads up display. The infotainment system includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, although Honda skipped HD Radio, meaning a good number of local broadcast channels can’t be received.
