If you’ve ever wondered how to install heated grips on a motorcycle, this week’s EV Rider episode will answer your questions.
This how-to video takes you step-by-step through installing a pair of Heaterz Premium – Cruiser heated grips on a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic.
Regardless of whether you have a Vulcan or will be purchasing a different brand of heated grips, the procedure will be similar on most motorcycles.
I purchased the Heaterz heated grips based on the recommendations of other motorcyclists.
They come with removable chrome end caps so that bar-end weights can be fitted on motorcycles where that’s necessary.
They feature five heat settings along with a safety turn-off switch built in. The safety switch provides low voltage protection (battery drain), in case you forget to turn them off.
If the voltage drops to 10.5V they will automatically turn off.
Oxford claims they will heat up to 122 degrees.
The kit includes a thorough installation guide and all parts needed for the install; including glue, wiring and zip ties.
Standard house tools that include a Phillips head screwdriver and small hacksaw or knife will be needed in most installation cases.
The kit used on the Vulcan 900 Classic LT is linked. If you have a different motorcycle be sure to confirm your handlebar size before ordering.
