Energica & Ideanomics Announce New Jersey Facility

Energica is throwing down the EV motorcycling gauntlet.

The Italian motorcycle maker’s parent company, Ideanomics, has unveiled plans for an East Coast experience center and U.S. manufacturing facility in New Jersey.

The center is expected to bring with it up to 100 jobs for Energica and other Ideanomics’ EV products.

“The new facility will increase our ability to manufacture and showcase industry-leading products. As part of Ideanomics’ continued commitment to accelerating commercial electrification, we are meeting the increasing market demand and the needs of our customers and operating companies by continuing to grow with them,” said Alf Poor, the CEO of Ideanomics in a news release.

The New Jersey location for the new facility wasn’t immediately announced.

Energica currently has two significant advantages over America’s Zero Motorcycles in that Energicas offer faster Level 3 CCS charging and larger batteries.

So far, Energica’s primary weaknesses have been a small U.S. dealer footprint and relatively slow Level 2 charging. This announcement shows Energica is serious about gaining a real foothold in the American market.
