Could 2030 MX-5 Miata EV Be Hidden In This Mazda Video?

中期経営計画のアップデートおよび2030年の経営方針について

Mazda just might have given us a peak at a future electric MX-5 Miata, and if you look very closely, you might notice that the front lighting appears to be pencil thin hidden headlights, perhaps as a nod to the first generation Miata.

The Japanese automaker has released a 2030 visioning video in its native market that saves what appears to be a future vision of the MX-5 Miata for the video’s finale.

In it we glimpse what appears at least one vision for a next generation Mazda sports car. I ran the video through Google translate.

There are no specific references to production or drivetrains.

Instead, the video describes its cars in terms of happiness, saying things like, “are you happy with your mind and body?” And, “are you protecting the future earth where your children and grandchildren live?”

The video shows a hardtop but then again, Mazda has offered retractable hardtop Miatas. Since the video shows current and past MX-5 Miatas near the CGI renders of a future sports car, I’m assuming it’s not a future RX-8, but then again, who knows. One thing is certain, whatever it is, it won’t be powered by a rotary engine.
