Zero Motorcycles rolled out its 2024 lineup today, including what it’s calling the brand’s all new S model.
Let’s get right to the point. The 2024 Zero street and dual-sport bikes are basically color and badge updates.
Despite what Zero fans have been yearning for there was no announcement of bigger batteries, DC fast charging or a commitment to move toward Tesla’s NACS charging standard, which most EV automakers in the U.S. have committed to.
Instead, Zero is finally saying goodbye to its last generation platform, moving the S, DS and DSR to the current platform.
But really, that’s just a rejiggering of options and trim packages.
The S has finally been moved over to the SR/F’s platform and becomes the brand’s entry level street bike, replacing last year’s SR, which in turn had become a base model SR/F. Last year’s SR becomes an European-only edition but given how similar it is to the U.S. S and SR/F, American buyers likely won’t miss it.
The S bases at $14,995 with a 14.4 kWh battery. The old DS-line has been moved over to the DSR/X adventure bike platform, with the DS starting at $15,995.
This year the top-of-the line DSR/X adventure bike gets spoked wire wheels.
The Black Forest edition is also making a comeback on Zero’s DSR/X platform. Although it wasn’t listed on Zero’s website at the time of this post’s publication the Black Forest edition does appear in Zero’s video presentation. Visor Down reports the Black Forest will be the top-shelf DSR/X with options added that include a premium seat, fog lights and smoked LED turn signal indicators.
Both the S and DS batteries are listed as having 14.4+ batteries. That would seem to imply they can be unlocked to Zero’s larger 15.6 or 17.3 kWh battery capacities but there was no mention of that either on Zero’s website or in its news release.
I have reached out to Zero asking for confirmation. If Zero provides an update it will be added to this post.
Zero is changing up some colors and graphics. For example, the SR/S comes in red for 2024, while the 2024 S debuts in what Zero calls white/silver.
The smaller FX and FXE dual sports also return for 2024.
That’s basically it. Unless Zero is holding back a surprise, the 2024 model year looks to be pretty much status quo, meaning if you’re in the market, grabbing a marked-down 2023 leftover might be the way to go.
