This is the MG Cyberster, which MG says will be going on sale in Europe in the summer of 2024 and feature a power convertible top.

Better yet, those scissor doors you see in the video are expected to make production.

Although official specs – such as range and pricing – haven’t been released yet, Car and Driver reports a government filing shows the top tier Cyberster will feature two electric motors with more than 500 combined horsepower and a top speed of 124 miles per hour.

MG’s earlier concept was expected to do 0-60 mph in under three seconds so there’s a good chance the production version will hit that target.

Car Wow estimates  the Cyberster will be priced around $50,000 U.S., which if accurate, would make it an incredible value compared to Tesla’s long-delayed Roadster, which was originally announced with a $250,000 price tag for the Founder’s Edition.

MG hasn’t sold a convertible in the states – or any of its cars here – since the last B rolled off the line in 1980.  Unfortunately there are no plans to bring the new Cyberster to the U.S.

An exciting new chapter in the MG story has just been announced at Auto Shanghai 2023 with the company officially confirming production plans of its unique high-performance EV sports car – Cyberster.

The two-seat roadster marks a much-anticipated return to sportscar production by the celebrated MG marque, with Cyberster poised to bring the story right up to date with its powerful all-electric powertrain and contemporary cabin featuring cutting-edge driver technology.

Carl Gotham, Advanced Design Director of the company’s Marylebone design studio in London, comments:

Cyberster’s evocative styling pays homage to much-admired roadsters from MG’s rich heritage, with its distinctive long bonnet, low nose and curvaceous surfaces, while also introducing striking new features such as its distinctive scissor doors and Kammback rear design.
