<p>After more than 60,000 miles, including trips to more than 20 states, let’s see how my 2022 Mustang Mach-E is holding up and how it compares to the 2026 model. </p>

<p>In terms of maintenance, this review is going to be quick. I replaced the tires at 58,000 miles, although they still had tread. I also had a windshield washer hose replaced that went bad.</p>

<p>Other than that, I had a warranty-covered factory main battery contactor recall completed. I also decided to replace my 12-volt battery, although it was still charging to 97% of capacity, according to my OBD II reader.</p>

<p>I know from experience that older 12-volt batteries can die unexpectedly, so I figured why take the chance.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mustang Mach-E Over-The-Air Improvements</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/MachEinterior-1024x576.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-5885" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/MachEinterior-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/MachEinterior-300x169.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/MachEinterior-768x432.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/MachEinterior-1536x865.jpg 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/MachEinterior-480x270.jpg 480w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/MachEinterior.jpg 1819w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">The <strong>Light Space Gray</strong> interior on this 2022 Mach-E is holding up well.</figcaption></figure>

<p> My electric pony has improved with age in some ways thanks to Ford’s over-the-air software enhancements. One of the biggest improvements was an update that turned what used to be just a volume knob into a multi-function dial that now can also raise or lower climate control temperatures and heated seats.</p>

<p>Perhaps more importantly to those that road trip a lot, my Mach-E’s peak charging speed has improved from 154 kW when I first bought it, to 167 kW in ideal conditions. Charging speeds above 80% have also improved a bit since it was new.</p>

<p>My lifetime efficiency average has been running right around 3.1 miles per kWh. However, I’ve noticed an interstate drop off since getting new tires, from 3 to 2.8 miles per kWh at 70 miles per hour. I switched to Goodyear EV rated tires. The ride is also more bouncy with the Goodyears. If I had it to do over again, I would have replaced the tires with the Michelins the Mach-E came with.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cartoon: Zappy&#8217;s Horse Outrun By Mustang Mach-E</h2>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_xvPXoXFTCw" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<p>Another over the air improvement has been BlueCruise. When I first got the Mach-E, BlueCruise would lane hunt sometimes and was easily tripped up by things like exit stripes.</p>

<p>Now Blue Cruise is more reliable, with Ford adding manually executed lane changes. The latest Mach-E comes with updated hardware that enables BlueCruise to carry out automatic highway lane changes with no human intervention. </p>

<p>I’ve been happy with my Mach-E’s build quality. It still feels solid and everything I said about its handling in my earlier review still applies. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Long-Term Review: &#8217;22 Mustang Mach-E</strong> (story continues after video)</h2>

<iframe loading="lazy" width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wabAo-0wjCM?si=XuP1J2TrTz8nCbn6" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<p>The paint, body and interior have been holding up well, although I have a garage and live in Florida, so it’s not exposed to salt or sand or as many potholes at the end of the winter season as many rust belt cars experience.</p>

<p>From a visual standpoint not much has changed between my 2022 and the 2026 Mach-Es, but Ford has been steadily improving its electric pony.</p>

<p>Here’s a look at some of the more important upgrades:</p>

<p>Ford upped the AWD Premium extended range trim, which is what I own, from 346 to 365 horsepower, &nbsp;while torque has jumped from 428 lb-fit to 500. The EPA-estimated range has risen from 277 miles to 300 on my trim.</p>

<p>A heat pump has also been added. But that one is a mixed blessing. It’s good news for snow belt drivers since they should see improved winter range. However, that also reduced the size of the frunk, shrinking it from 4.7 cubic feet to 2.8 cubic feet of storage. Another words, it holds 40% less stuff.</p>

<p>The shift dial in my Mach-E has been dropped in favor of a stalk-mounted shifter and a redesigned center console that includes a bit more storage.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">More Mach-E Coverage (story continues below)</h2>

<p>DC charging speed has also been improved, with some drivers now reporting being able to hit peaks of 170 kW and holding 150 kWs for several minutes. My Mach-E usually ramps down into the 120s within a few minutes.</p>

<p>For those opting for the EV Mustang’s top trim, the Mach-E GT&#8217;s total torque is now up to 700 lb-ft, for a Ford estimated 3.3 second 0-60 mph run with summer tires. That&#8217;s assuming you purchase Ford&#8217;s performance unlock</p>

<p>There have also been a few trim and color changes but for the most part, the 2026 hasn’t changed much from my 2022. </p>

<p>For those thinking about getting a Mach-E, I can easily recommend gently used models. These days it’s pretty easy to find low mileage examples for less than $30k.</p>

<p>Once you figure in the low fuel cost, performance, practicality and 100,000-mile battery warranty; used Mach-Es are quite affordable for drivers looking for something more sporty than the typical SUV.</p>

<p>In terms of buying new, Mach-E prices have also come down since I bought my 2022, although that’s somewhat offset by the loss of the $7,500 tax credit.</p>

<p>Four years later, I’m still thrilled with my electric pony. And with the ever-improving charging infrastructure, I’m looking forward to more multi-state road trips where I can let the Mach-E really gallop.</p>

<p></p>

<p>This week on EV Rider, what if Ford built a convertible version of the Mustang Mach-E?</p>

<p>I love convertibles and I’ve owned several over the years, including a Trans Am.</p>

<p>So now that EV muscle cars are becoming a thing with the Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack, what if Ford turned the Mustang Mach-E GT into a convertible? Let’s find out.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="578" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible1-1024x578.jpg" alt="Ford Mustang Mach-E Convertible" class="wp-image-5548" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible1-1024x578.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible1-768x433.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible1-1536x867.jpg 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible1-480x270.jpg 480w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible1.jpg 1978w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">The AI renderings in this post and video were produced with Veo.</figcaption></figure>

<p>Thanks to the magic of AI, it’s now easy to prototype all kinds of variations of existing cars. In this case, here’s what a 2025 Mustang Mach-E GT might look like as a convertible.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="570" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible2-1024x570.jpg" alt="Ford Mustang Mach-E Convertible" class="wp-image-5547" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible2-1024x570.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible2-300x167.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible2-768x428.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible2-1536x856.jpg 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible2.jpg 1978w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>As you can see, even if we keep the 4-door design, it makes the transition to a soft top quite nicely.</p>

<p>Of course most convertibles over the years have been two doors, but Lincoln certainly proved its possible to do an elegant four-door convertible with its iconic Continental that was in production from 1960 to 1969. If by chance you&#8217;ve never seen Lincoln&#8217;s 4-door convertible, you&#8217;ll find several shots of it in the video at the top of this post.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="570" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible4-1-1024x570.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-5549" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible4-1-1024x570.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible4-1-300x167.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible4-1-768x428.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible4-1-1536x855.jpg 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible4-1.jpg 1975w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>If cost is a concern – and it always is – Ford could keep the 4-door form factor and it would have the added benefit of including an extra dose of practicality. And speaking to practicality, since the Mach-E has a frunk, the lost of some of the trunk space needed for the top wouldn’t be as big a deal as it is with traditional 2-door convertibles.</p>

<p>So what you do think? Should Ford make a Mach-E convertible? <a href="https://youtu.be/NPCQicrXO1E">Let me know in the comments</a>.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="566" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible3-1024x566.jpg" alt="Ford Mustang Mach-E Convertible" class="wp-image-5546" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible3-1024x566.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible3-300x166.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible3-768x425.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible3-1536x849.jpg 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/MustangMachEconvertible3.jpg 1980w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>If you’d like to see a Mustang Mach-E EV convertible make production consider sharing this video and post, since the more people that share it make the odds get higher someone at Ford will take notice.</p>

<p class="">Ford is amping up the excitement as it unveils its Mustang Mach-E NASCAR EV prototype.</p>

<p class="">While The Mustang V8 solders on, Ford knows the next performance frontier is electric.</p>

<p class=""><strong>Related: </strong><a href="https://evrider.tv/tag/ford-mustang-mach-e/">More Mustang Mach-E coverage</a></p>

<p class="">Ford’s performance team has unveiled what it calls the Mustang Mach-E NASCAR prototype, which it says has 1360-horsepower.</p>

<p class="">That’s courtesy of a tri-motor set-up and a 78-kWh battery.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-3-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4326" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-3-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-3-768x512.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-3-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-3-2048x1365.jpg 2048w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photos credit: Ford Performance</figcaption></figure>

<p class="">Although no weight was announced it’s probably quite a bit lighter than a regular production Mach-E thanks to the prototype’s full carbon fiber tub.</p>

<p class="">What really caught my eye is Ford turned its prototype into a two-door, which of course lines-up with both Mustang and NASCAR tradition.</p>

<p class="">So could we maybe – just maybe – see a regular two-door Mach-E production model? Or maybe even a Mach-E convertible?</p>

<p class="">Ford isn’t saying but the Mach-E’s overall design certainly works nicely as a two-door as you can see in these EV Rider AI-generated renderings.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="341" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/MachEcoupe.png" alt="" class="wp-image-4329" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/MachEcoupe.png 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/MachEcoupe-300x100.png 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/MachEcoupe-768x256.png 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="558" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/MachEconvertible.png" alt="" class="wp-image-4330" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/MachEconvertible.png 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/MachEconvertible-300x163.png 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/MachEconvertible-768x419.png 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="">Perhaps more importantly, could we see a tri-motor Mustang Mach-E make production on the existing platform to directly take on other high-performance EVs like the <a href="https://evrider.tv/tesla-model-s-plaid-lives-up-to-neck-snapping-hype/">Model S Plaid</a>, <a href="https://evrider.tv/lucid-air-pure-nails-ev-sedan-category/">Lucid Air Saffire</a> and upcoming <a href="https://evrider.tv/american-ev-muscle-dodge-unveils-24-charger-daytona/">Dodge Charger Daytona Banshee</a>?</p>

<p class="">Ford didn’t release any performance numbers for its prototype but enthusiasts are sure to wonder how it stacks up against the gas-powered Mustang GTD.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-9-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4327" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-9-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-9-300x200.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-9-768x512.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-9.jpg 1500w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="">The GTD is a street legal track car in very limited production with an eye-popping starting price of around $325,000. That money gets you a supercharged V8 with 815 horsepower and a top speed of 202 miles per hour.</p>

<p class="">With a tri-motor setup, it sounds like the NASCAR Mach-E prototype just might pull ahead of the GTD but we’ll just have to wait and see. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-1-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4328" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-1-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Mustang-Mach-E-NASCAR-Protype-Unveil-1-2048x1365.jpg 2048w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="">Ever since the debut of the Ford Mustang Mach-E EV there’s been a debate about whether it’s a real or better Mustang. Looking at the sales numbers, it’s obvious which pony car the majority of actual buying customers currently prefer.</p>

<p class="">Ford has released its year-end sales totals and the Mustang Mach-E EV was crowned the Mustang sales champ with 51,745 units sold in 2024. That compares to 44,003 for all trims of the gas-powered Mustang coupe and convertible.</p>

<p class="">The most recent fourth quarter numbers show the trend is even more clear with Mustang Mach-E sales coming in at more than double the number of gas-powered Mustangs sold. ICE Mustangs accounted for just over 7,518 sales while EV Mustangs were bought by 16,119 customers in the final quarter of 2024.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="">Perhaps what’s most amazing is the current Mustang Mach-E went on sale back in 2020 while the gas-powered pony car got a major styling overhaul in 2023. Usually when a model is redesigned it reinvigorates sales.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="589" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Premium-Sport-Appearance-Package_03-1024x589.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4279" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Premium-Sport-Appearance-Package_03-1024x589.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Premium-Sport-Appearance-Package_03-300x173.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Premium-Sport-Appearance-Package_03-768x442.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Premium-Sport-Appearance-Package_03-1536x883.jpg 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Premium-Sport-Appearance-Package_03-2048x1178.jpg 2048w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Premium-Sport-Appearance-Package_03-591x340.jpg 591w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">The shifter is moved to the column in the 2025 Mach-E. | Photo credit: Ford</figcaption></figure>

<p class="">V8 powered Mustang sales should get a bit of a bump in 2025 now that both the Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro have been discontinued and there&#8217;s no Hemi V8 available in the 2025 Dodge Charger.</p>

<p class="">Ford is also freshening the electric Mustang Mach-E for 2025 with a winter range bump and some minor styling tweaks.</p>

<p class="">Perhaps most importantly to muscle car fans, Ford says the 2025 Mustang Mach-E GT is quicker from 0-60 mph at 3.2 seconds than the V8 powered Mustang Dark Horse. By comparison, <a href="https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2024-ford-mustang-gt-dark-horse-ecoboost-s650-0-60-mph-quarter-mile-acceleration/">Motor Trend says </a>a Dark Horse with a 10-speed automatic can hit 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds or 4.1 seconds with the six-speed manual.</p>

<p class="">The Mustang Mach-E is also more efficient now that a heat pump has been added, meaning Mach-E owners in colder climates should see better range when running the heater than the outgoing model.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="595" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Premium-Sport-Appearance-Package_07-1-1024x595.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4282" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Premium-Sport-Appearance-Package_07-1-1024x595.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Premium-Sport-Appearance-Package_07-1-300x174.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Premium-Sport-Appearance-Package_07-1-768x446.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Premium-Sport-Appearance-Package_07-1.jpg 1280w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">2025 Mustang Mach-E with Sport Appearance Package. | Photo credit: Ford</figcaption></figure>

<p class="">Inside, the Mach-E&#8217;s gear selector has been moved from the center console to the steering column, while a new sport appearance package is available that makes the Premium model look more like the GT.</p>

<p class="">Range comes in at 320 miles for the rear-wheel-drive extended range battery model, while the all-wheel-drive high-performance GT knocks that down to 280 miles.</p>

<p class="">The Mustang Mach-E Rally edition is also back for 2025 for those that like to do light off-roading. The Rally&#8217;s higher suspension and tire setup eats even more into range, at 265 miles per charge.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Rally_05-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4280" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Rally_05-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Rally_05-300x200.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Rally_05-768x512.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Rally_05-1536x1025.jpg 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-Mustang-Mach-E-Rally_05-2048x1366.jpg 2048w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">2025 Mustang Mach-E Rally | Photo credit: Ford</figcaption></figure>

<p class="">The Mustang Mach-E is aging well. The next question is how far off is the next generation and how long will it be until we finally see EV coupe and convertible Mustangs?</p>

<p class="">Ford has announced U.S. and Canadian Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning owners will be able to reserve a complementary CCS to NACS Supercharger adapter beinging in Spring 2024.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="">Ford said its existing Mach-E and Lightning customers will, “soon be able to reserve a complimentary Fast Charging Adapter.&#8221;</p>

<p class="">The adapters will work at all Tesla V3 and above Superchargers. Ford will start to transition to the NACS charge port from 2025, removing the need for an adapter for direct access to Tesla Superchargers.</p>

<p class="">Ford CEO Jim Farley said on X, &#8220;This is our way of saying thank you!&#8221;</p>

<p class="">This is the first time Ford has gone on the record saying the adapters would be complementary. Ford has so far avoided using the word free but everything said so far strongly implies Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning owners will get one adapter free of charge.</p>

<p class="">&#8220;2021-24 model year Mustang Mach-E + F-150 Lightning customers will be eligible &amp; the reservation process will be validated by VIN. One charger per VIN. We&#8217;ll cover cost of shipping. Details on how to reserve &amp; tech specs of the adapter will be shared soon. Activating, charging &amp; payment once a customer has an adapter will be seamless through FordPass or in-vehicle Public Charging App,&#8221; Farley said on X.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Will Ford&#8217;s CCS To NACS Adapter Work With Focus, Transit EVs?</h2>

<p class="">Ford didn&#8217;t mention whether Focus EV owners will receive an adapter or whether the Ford CCS-to-NACS adapters will work with its discontinued Focus EV, which was the first Ford to have CCS DC fast charging. The Focus EV was built from 2011 to 2018. The Transit EV, which is still in production, also wasn&#8217;t mentioned. </p>

<p class="">As we all focus on 2024, here’s a quick look back at the top 10 EV Rider videos from 2023 and a brief look at some of what we’ll be doing in 2024.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="">This list is comprised of the 10 most watched videos on the <a href="https://bit.ly/EVriderSubscribe">EV Rider YouTube channel</a> that were produced 2023, with the most popular video coming in at number one. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@EVRider/shorts">Shorts</a> and videos from previous years were not eligble for inclusion. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">#10 | Ford Mustang Mach-E Towing Test</h2>

<iframe loading="lazy" width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/HaoepycFafY?si=ARWHIbIyORgjXkeL" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<p class="">Coming in at number ten was a <a href="https://evrider.tv/tag/ford-mustang-mach-e/">Mustang Mach-E</a> towing test. Plenty of you wanted to know how much the Mach-E can tow. The short answer is more than 3,300 pounds. The longer answer: Ford doesn’t want you towing in the U.S. but is happy to sell you an OEM hitch in Europe.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">#9 | Showdown: Ford F-150 Lightning Vs. Rivian R1T<a href="https://www.youtube.com/@EVRider"></a></h2>

<p class="">There’s a ton of interest in EV pickup trucks right now which quickly became apparent as EV Rider pitted two local owners with a <a href="https://evrider.tv/tag/rivian/">Rivian R1T and Ford F-150 Lightning</a> against one another.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">8# | 2023 Kia EV6 GT Blows Away Many Performance Cars</h2>

<p class="">Economical performance is also on the minds of EV Riders. Our road test of <a href="https://evrider.tv/2023-kia-ev6-gt-blows-away-many-performance-cars/">Kia’s EV6 GT</a> checked in at number 8. It screams to 60 miles per hour in just 3.4 seconds.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="">SUVs make up the hottest EV segment out there with thousands upon thousands of you wanting to know more about Rivian’s R1S SUV and why a Tesla owner dumped his Model X for the R1S.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="">Although Cadillac struggled with production volume for its Lyriq in 2023, our EV Rider review of Caddy’s first pure EV proved there’s plenty of interest as it checked in as our sixth-most watched video of the year.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">#5 | Energica Experia Delivers Top Notch EV Motorcycle Touring Experience</h2>

<iframe loading="lazy" width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zzlQvTEas40?si=vD1ST2vygiFSn7I4" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<p class=""><a href="https://www.youtube.com/@EVRider"></a>EV Rider’s fan base includes a lot of <a href="https://evrider.tv/category/motorcycles/">motorcyclists</a> so it’s no surprise that so many of you couldn’t wait to learn more about <a href="https://evrider.tv/tag/energica">Energica</a>’s Experia, which at the time of its debut had the EV motorcycle industry’s largest battery pack. We called it a top-notch EV motorcycle touring experience.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">#4 | Long-Term Review: &#8217;22 Mustang Mach-E</h2>

<iframe loading="lazy" width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wabAo-0wjCM?si=uqQMfCLCUypwADT-" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<p class=""><a href="https://www.youtube.com/@EVRider"></a>While some traditional ICE Mustang fans are still upset that Ford used the storied nameplate on its Mach-E EV, that didn’t stop more than 10 thousand of you from wanting to know about how EV Rider’s personal electric pony is holding up. In a word: great. So far I’ve put about 35,000 miles on it.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">#3 | Owner Review: Tesla Model 3 Vs. Hyundai Ioniq 5</h2>

<iframe loading="lazy" width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/l--ou0wzcT4?si=NrJWxwBWA52qrbcJ" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<p class="">While one YouTube channels video views certainly aren’t scientific when it comes to automotive trends the more than 10 thousand of you that watched EV Rider’s <a href="https://evrider.tv/tag/tesla/">Tesla</a> Model 3 vs. <a href="https://evrider.tv/tag/Hyundai/">Hyundai</a> Ioniq 5 comparison anecdotally illustrates there seems to be quite a bit of cross shopping interest between the two brands.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">#2 | Canoo EV Startup: Factory Update, Other News</h2>

<iframe loading="lazy" width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/WDwWjV-aJBw?si=r1e8VlXgsW8O5_dM" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<p class="">EV startup <a href="https://evrider.tv/tag/canoo/">Canoo</a> is just now gearing up for volume production at its new Oklahoma City plant and EV Rider’s audience is obviously very interested in this brand. Canoo videos produced this year would have dominated five of the top ten spots if I had broken them out one by one. Altogether, Canoo videos and shorts accounted for more than 348,000 EV Rider video views in 2023.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">#1 | Why Tesla Model Y Owner Switched To BMW iX</h2>

<p class="">The number one individual video EV Rider produced in 2023 was a look at why one EV Rider dumped his Tesla Model Y for a <a href="https://evrider.tv/tag/bmw/">BMW</a> iX. More than 38,000 of you had watched the iX video at last check.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Road Ahead</h2>

<p class="">So what’s ahead for EV Rider in 2024? Given the high-interest level, we’ll continue to follow Canoo as it looks to ramp up its production in 2024. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">EVs Assembled In Jacksonville, FL</h2>

<p class=""><a href="https://cenntroauto.com/">Cenntro</a>, an EV fleet maker with an assembly plant right here in Jacksonville, Florida has promised us a factory tour. So watch for that video, probably sometime in mid-to-late February. </p>

<p>The <a href="https://evrider.tv/tag/ford-mustang-mach-e/">Mustang Mach-E</a> is a fantastic, sporty SUV. Now Ford has decided the time is right to make a Rally edition for mild off-road adventures and rally racing. </p>

<p>Regular edition All-Wheel-Drive Mach-Es are already pretty capable vehicles, <a href="https://evrider.tv/can-the-ford-mustang-mach-e-tow-yes-but-range-suffers/">including doing a little unofficial light-duty towing</a>, but they’re just too low and too easily banged up to consider anything more off-road than maybe a gentle ride on the beach or a park trail intended to be accessible by most vehicles. </p>

<p>With the introduction of the Mach-E Rally, Ford is aiming straight at the heart of the rally off-road adventure market. But, don’t get the idea this is a Jeep Wrangler competitor. </p>

<p>This isn&#8217;t a rock crawler and rougher terrain isn&#8217;t its mission. Instead, it was developed for rallycross fans.  </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="346" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyBeautyShot-1024x346.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3096" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyBeautyShot-1024x346.png 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyBeautyShot-300x102.png 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyBeautyShot-768x260.png 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyBeautyShot-1536x520.png 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyBeautyShot.png 1661w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo credit: Ford</figcaption></figure>

<p><a href="https://www.scca.com/pages/what-is-rallycross">Rally Cross</a> is a type of dirt racing where drivers power slide their way to victory on dirt or gravel tracks.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Mach-E Rally is based on the GT edition of the Mach-E but adds a unique raised suspension that gives it an 0.8-inch lift with specialty tuned springs and MagneRide shocks. </p>

<p>This off-road all-electric Mustang trades the GT’s wheels and tries for 19-inch rally-style alloy wheels wearing Michelin Cross-Climate 2 tires that provide more sidewall and loose surface grip.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The underside gets protective shielding for the front and rear motors to help protect against the gravel drivers are likely to kick up. A protective film is added on the door cladding and fender arches to reduce potential paint chips.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="456" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyFogLights-1024x456.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3097" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyFogLights-1024x456.png 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyFogLights-300x134.png 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyFogLights-768x342.png 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyFogLights.png 1465w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo credit: Ford</figcaption></figure>

<p>For drivers traversing the great outdoors at night, rally-inspired fog lights are added to a front grille that’s unique to the Rally edition.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Inside, the Mach-E Rally has a special RallySport Drive Mode that adds yaw for bigger slides, better throttle response and more aggressive damping for better handling in loose corners. &nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="571" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/All-Electric-Mustang-Mach-E-Rally_24-1024x571.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3099" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/All-Electric-Mustang-Mach-E-Rally_24-1024x571.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/All-Electric-Mustang-Mach-E-Rally_24-300x167.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/All-Electric-Mustang-Mach-E-Rally_24-768x428.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/All-Electric-Mustang-Mach-E-Rally_24-1536x857.jpg 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/All-Electric-Mustang-Mach-E-Rally_24-2048x1143.jpg 2048w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo credit: Ford</figcaption></figure>

<p>Since the Rally edition is based on the GT and includes MagneRide shocks and Brembo bakes, it should also be a hoot out on the street. Ford says it will have at least 650 lb.-ft. of torque and 480 horsepower.&nbsp;</p>

<p>That’s even more torque than the <a href="https://evrider.tv/first-look-ford-mustang-mach-e-rally/">Mustang Mach-E GT Performance</a>, which has a Ford-rated 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds.&nbsp;&nbsp; So it sounds like the Rally might end up equaling or even surpassing the current top dog Mach-E&#8217;s acceleration.&nbsp;</p>

<p>For adventurers that do manage to get themselves in trouble, there’s also a recovery point built into the front end and an included hook, so <a href="https://evrider.tv/f-150-lightning-features-tour-owner-perspective/">your buddy with a Lightning</a> can come get you out of any potential jam.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It also looks the boy-racer part with a rear spoiler that takes its inspiration from Ford’s former Focus RS.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="533" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyWing-1024x533.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3098" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyWing-1024x533.png 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyWing-300x156.png 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyWing-768x400.png 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyWing-1536x800.png 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RallyWing.png 1996w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo credit: Ford</figcaption></figure>

<p>Ford says the Mach-E Rally will start around $65,000.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While that might sound expensive; for a such a sporty, unique, EV it actually significantly undercuts what might be its closest competitor. The Porsche Taycan GTS Sport Turismo with similar specs starts at just over $141,000 while the more light-duty off-road focused Taycan Cross Turismo starts at $101,900.</p>

<p>What do you think? Are there any other EV-powered competitors outside of the Porsche? <a href="https://youtu.be/jSRNXrSg5nk">Let me know in the YouTube comments</a>.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After more driving through 20 states and more than 22,000 miles it’s time to review my 2022 <a href="http://evrider.tv/tag/ford-mustang-mach-e/">Ford Mustang Mach-E</a> Premium AWD extended range edition.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>I got my Mach-E in May of 2022 and hit the road on a 1,200-mile road trip within a few weeks of picking it up.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Since then, I’ve also driven and reviewed competing EVs that include the <a href="https://evrider.tv/2023-kia-ev6-gt-blows-away-many-performance-cars/">Kia EV6 GT</a>, <a href="https://evrider.tv/road-test-2022-hyundai-ioniq-5/">Hyundai Ioniq 5,</a> <a href="https://evrider.tv/genesis-gv60-ev-sparkles-with-tech/">Genesis GV60</a> and <a href="https://evrider.tv/volvo-c40-recharge-ev-delivers-spirited-driving/">Volvo C40 Recharge</a>.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ford’s first high-volume EV has been a hit with Ford saying it’s upping Mach-E production to 270,000 units annually.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized is-style-default"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Mach-E-150K-1024x576.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2612" width="840" height="472" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Mach-E-150K-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Mach-E-150K-300x169.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Mach-E-150K-768x432.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Mach-E-150K-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Mach-E-150K-2048x1152.jpg 2048w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Mach-E-150K-480x270.jpg 480w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 840px) 100vw, 840px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Employees at Ford&#8217;s Cuautitlán Stamping and Assembly Plant celebrate the production of the 150,000th Mustang Mach-E. <p>I went out of market and custom ordered my Mach-E to avoid the crazy high mark-ups that many dealers were charging at the time.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong><em><a href="https://youtu.be/wabAo-0wjCM">Post your questions or comments here</a></em></strong></p>

<p>In the end I got it for MSRP along with a $1,200 discount. The car took a full ten months to arrive.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Since then it’s been a blast for the most part. The 4.8 second Ford-claimed zero-to-60 time in Unbridle mode never gets old, making it the fastest car I’ve ever owned, and that includes my former 2001 Pontiac Trans Am Ram Air convertible.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Related: </strong><a href="https://media.ford.com/content/dam/fordmedia/North%20America/US/product/2022/mach-e/pdf/MACH-E-specs-08252022.pdf">Complete Mach-E Model Range Technical Specifications</a></p>

<p>The suspension is nicely tuned, staying flat in moderate cornering. Expansion joints and road ripples can upset it, giving it a bouncy feeling at times. Ford also offers an adjustable MagneRide suspension but that’s only available on the higher priced <a href="https://evrider.tv/tesla-owner-dumps-model-x-for-ford-mustang-mach-e/">GT-Performance edition</a>.&nbsp;The MagneRide suspension would probably remove the bounciness that I&#8217;ve experienced on occasion. </p>

<p>The Mach-E Premium’s brakes are strong but just remember this is a heavy car. If you exceed the car’s limits, you’re going to feel the heft of its 4,838 pounds fast.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/MachE3-1024x576.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2607" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/MachE3-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/MachE3-300x169.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/MachE3-768x432.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/MachE3-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/MachE3-2048x1152.jpg 2048w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/MachE3-480x270.jpg 480w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>If you’re driving an older car, you’ll find the Mach-E’s handling impressive, but when comparing it to some contemporaries such as <a href="https://evrider.tv/sport-boost-shifts-bmw-i4-ev-into-m-territory/">BMW’s i4 M50</a>, the Genesis GV60 or Kia EV6 GT its handling flaws become more apparent. It’s just not as crisp. However, the top-trim GT-Performance’s suspension and tire set up would likely fix that.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Related: </strong><a href="https://evrider.tv/tesla-owner-dumps-model-x-for-ford-mustang-mach-e/">Mach-E GT Performance Owner Review</a></p>

<p>The Mach-E’s build quality is pretty good but the b-pillar plastic does occasionally creak in warmer weather, taking away from the feel of an otherwise solid, quiet cabin.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The drive unit also lets out a thunk from time-to-time when engaging at low speeds. At first, I thought it might be unique to my Mach-E but a friend who owns two Mach-E’s has experienced the thunk with both of his EV ponies. It’s not a problem but it does detract from the perceived level of refinement.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/BlueCruise-1024x576.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2608" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/BlueCruise-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/BlueCruise-300x169.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/BlueCruise-768x432.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/BlueCruise-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/BlueCruise-480x270.jpg 480w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/BlueCruise.jpg 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><a href="https://evrider.tv/living-with-fords-blue-cruise/">Blue Cruise</a> has also been problematic. While driving through Kansas it stopped working and wouldn’t reengage for the rest of my drive through much of country.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Related: </strong><a href="https://evrider.tv/living-with-fords-blue-cruise/">Living With Blue Cruise</a></p>

<p>My dealer was unable to figure out the problem. It took Ford corporate approximately two months to diagnose and correct the issue with an over-the-air firmware update.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Blue Cruise has gotten better with time. It doesn’t lane hunt as much as it used to and Ford is promising a lane-change software update.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ford also performed an over-the-air recall firmware update because the high voltage battery main contactors could potentially overheat.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>I’m quite happy with all other aspects of the Mach-E. My biggest road trip so far totaled more than 4,800 miles over a two-week period.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Mach-E happily soaked up interstate miles and loved the chance to up its gallop in states where the speed limit is 85 miles per hour.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In terms of range and efficiency, I learned the hard way that Ford automatically resets the trip odometer at the 10,000-mile mark, which erases the overall power consumption record.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But here’s what I can tell you: Over more than 9,800 miles since then with a heavy mix of interstate driving, my overall trip average has been 3 miles per kWh.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="577" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/20230519_102654-1024x577.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2611" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/20230519_102654-1024x577.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/20230519_102654-300x169.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/20230519_102654-768x432.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/20230519_102654-1536x865.jpg 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/20230519_102654-2048x1153.jpg 2048w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/20230519_102654-480x270.jpg 480w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Based on my Mach-E&#8217;s 91 kWh (usable) battery, that works out to an average of 273 miles per charge.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Charging speeds have exceeded expectations. The Mach-E is rated at a peak charging speed of 150 kWh but I’ve seen it get as high as 163, although it does ramp down &#8211; usually within just a few minutes &#8211; to the 120s.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As you would expect, range drops big time when you’re traveling at more than 80 miles per hour. During the fastest legs of my journey in western states in 99-degree heat, I saw numbers as low as 1.5 miles per kWh.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>In terms of interstate range, here in Florida, traveling at a steady 71 mph, I’ve been averaging between 2.8 and 3 miles per kWh, depending on the weather.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>In terms of real-world interstate range, it seems to be working out to between about 200 and 245 miles, depending on temperature and the speed of traffic.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 2022 Mach-E AWD extended battery edition has a combined city-highway range of 277 miles per charge, according to the EPA.&nbsp; The range has been increased to 290 miles for the 2023 model.</p>

<p>The EPA estimate is based on 45% of highway driving and 55% of city stop-n-go driving where EVs are much more efficient. In city traffic my average is running at about 3.4 kWh per mile, which works out to about 309 miles of range.&nbsp;</p>

<p>One thing that’s fun to watch is my Mach-E is actually getting better with time thanks to Ford’s over-the-air updates.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="575" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/MachEyouTube-1024x575.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2610" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/MachEyouTube-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/MachEyouTube-300x168.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/MachEyouTube-768x431.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/MachEyouTube-1536x862.jpg 1536w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/MachEyouTube-2048x1149.jpg 2048w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/MachEyouTube-480x270.jpg 480w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">The Mustang Mach-E now natively supports video streaming.</figcaption></figure>

<p>The infotainment system has received some nice tweaks. Ford has added video streaming and more games. It’s also tweaked the display to allow Android Auto and Apple Car Play to display in a larger full screen mode than was previously possible.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The volume knob has also received an upgrade. It now also works as a temperature control dial for things like the air-conditioning and heated seats.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Most of the things that originally drew me to the electric Mustang still apply. I still love its spacious, comfortable, and practical design for both front and rear passengers.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Thanks to the large rear cargo area with the seats folded down, I’ve also done some overnight car camping in the Mach-E, with my luggage stashed in the front trunk. Ford allows users to turn off the power down feature so the AC or heat can be run all night while you sleep.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized is-style-default"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/347249643_194085740189528_4141624488589576554_n.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2609" width="840" height="472" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/347249643_194085740189528_4141624488589576554_n.jpg 960w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/347249643_194085740189528_4141624488589576554_n-300x169.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/347249643_194085740189528_4141624488589576554_n-768x432.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/347249643_194085740189528_4141624488589576554_n-480x270.jpg 480w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 840px) 100vw, 840px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Bortzfield&#8217;s Mach-E is pictured during a trip recharging while towing a Zero SR/F EV motorcycle.</figcaption></figure>

<p>It’s also proven itself to be a capable towing machine for light loads such as motorcycles, despite the Mach-E not being given a tow rating in the US. <a href="https://evrider.tv/can-the-ford-mustang-mach-e-tow-yes-but-range-suffers/">In Europe it’s rated as capable of towing up to 3,300 pounds</a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Related: </strong><a href="https://evrider.tv/can-the-ford-mustang-mach-e-tow-yes-but-range-suffers/">Mach-E Towing Test</a></p>

<p>Styling is subjective, but in my eyes the Mach-E’s design is aging well and remains one of the best-looking cross-over designs out there.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Call me silly, but I also love the Mach-E’s boy racer vibe. When the car’s Unbridle mode is switched on, the display changes, the steering firms up, while the throttle opens up the EV’s full potential.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>A propulsion sound that sort of sounds like a space-age, smoothed-out V8 can also be turned on, which is fun to hear every once and a while.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The rest of the time I use what Ford calls Whisper mode, which projects a dreamy sort of dash display, lightens up the steering and eases up the throttle. I never bother with the middle mode, which is called Engage. I don’t prefer its dash display and the difference between it and Whisper is too subtle.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>As far as the whole debate about whether it’s a real Mustang or not, I’d direct you to the <a href="https://evrider.tv/design-comparison-current-mach-e-next-gen-mustang/">styling comparison video I did between the Mach-E and the next-gen coupe and convertible</a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Summing it all up, I’m looking forward to many more years and road trips in the Mach-E. It’s a wonderful road car and a great example of why EVs are starting to displace gasoline cars. EVs are just more refined and generally offer more performance per dollar.&nbsp;</p>

<p>If you’ve got any questions about my experience with the Mach-E post them in the <a href="https://youtu.be/wabAo-0wjCM">YouTube comments</a> and I’ll do my best to answer them and if you’ve enjoyed this episode of EV Rider please <a href="https://youtu.be/wabAo-0wjCM">give it a like</a> and <a href="https://bit.ly/EVriderSubscribe">subscribe</a> so I can bring you more adventures in EV motoring.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ford is getting a leg up on its non-Tesla EV competitors, announcing a deal with Tesla that will open up the more than 12,000 Superchargers in the U.S. to Ford EVs.</p>

<p>Starting in 2024, existing Ford Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning and E-Transit owners will be able to charge at Supercharger stations with an adapter while next generation Ford EVs will come standard with a Supercharger port, which is known officially as the North American Charging Standard (NACS). </p>

<p>Next-gen Ford EVs will still have access to the CCS and J-1772 chargers, although Ford didn&#8217;t immediately specify whether that be via an adapter or second charging port. There was no mention of whether the discontinued Ford Focus EV will be able to use the NACS adapter.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s the news release from Ford:</p>

<p><strong>DEARBORN,&nbsp;<a></a>Mich., May 25, 2023</strong>&nbsp;– Ford Motor Company said today it reached an agreement with Tesla Motors that will provide Ford electric vehicle customers access to more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across the U.S. and Canada, doubling the number of fast-chargers available to Ford EV customers starting Spring 2024.</p>

<p>“This is great news for our customers who will have unprecedented access to the largest network of fast-chargers in the U.S. and Canada with 12,000+ Tesla Superchargers plus 10,000+ fast-chargers already in the BlueOval Charge Network,” said Jim Farley, Ford president and CEO. “Widespread access to fast-charging is absolutely vital to our growth as an EV brand, and this breakthrough agreement comes as we are ramping up production of our popular Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning, and preparing to launch a series of next-generation EVs starting in 2025.”</p>

<p>Added Rebecca Tinucci, Tesla’s senior director of charging infrastructure: “We’ve spent the last 10 years building an industry-leading Charging Network that enables freedom to travel and provides charging confidence for our Tesla owners. We’re excited to deliver on our mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy by welcoming Ford owners, and other electric vehicles who adopt NACS, to our thousands of Superchargers across North America.”</p>

<p>A Tesla-developed adapter will provide Ford F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit vehicles fitted with the Combined Charging System (CCS) port access to Tesla’s V3 Superchargers. Ford will equip future EVs with the NACS charge port, removing the need for an adapter for direct access to Tesla Superchargers, starting in 2025.</p>

<p>“Tesla has led the industry in creating a large, reliable and efficient charging system and we are pleased to be able to join forces in a way that benefits customers and overall EV adoption,” said Marin Gjaja, chief customer officer, Ford Model e. “<a></a>The Tesla Supercharger network has excellent reliability and the NACS plug is smaller and lighter.&nbsp; Overall, this provides a superior experience for customers.”</p>

<p>The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/f150-lightning/features/ev-charging/blueoval-charge-network/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">BlueOval Charge Network</a>&nbsp;is already North America’s largest public charging network with over 84,000 chargers including access to over 10,000 public DC fast-chargers. Adding more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers creates the single largest integrated fast-charge network across the U.S. and Canada, designed to significantly reduce charge anxiety for Ford customers, with automatic routing to the nearest charger and seamless billing via FordPass.</p>

<p>Additionally, Ford dealers are adding roughly 1,800 public-facing fast-chargers and locations to the BlueOval Charge Network by early 2024.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.shelby.com/multimedia/News/ArtMID/5059/ArticleID/114/Shelby-American-Announces-European-Only-Shelby-Mustang-Mach-E-GT">Shelby American</a> has unveiled its first production Ford Mustang Mach-E EV modification package, but don’t too excited.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Here’s the thing: there was no talk of improved torque or horsepower in the April 26 news release. The first limited run Shelby Mach-E GT will only be available in Europe.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“We elected to initially offer the Shelby <a href="https://evrider.tv/tag/ford-mustang-mach-e/">Mustang Mach-E</a> GT only in Europe because sales of EV’s are growing much more rapidly there than in the USA,” said&nbsp;<a href="https://u7061146.ct.sendgrid.net/ls/click?upn=4tNED-2FM8iDZJQyQ53jATUXY07IWuebxOqI3hGFhjP-2FhdC60E6S4d0RAhVvOCZZNWTTpg_Ogxrqw9inQn5RTOXLLaRZF-2BaJKuSIs5Tw-2B9lwnHhAbgMf-2BRit2OBlBZIygKDP87k0wXsh8iCiiOBZJMO7W2DyPEKVR116EnsCc78OAmYr77ehk-2BkIARDyquH0NgchysdRhmLIbPXalzVbvKMF1nWIX6atgBQ4TZilRG3NKwtGBw6zDQQ85X8hf50geYAXfoAzGnyCN9UKAW-2Bhc8Ha7xXr1dRSrGmXSDwjhwwQxjhhb6QF54YOpzxh8SPRGNFSMsczX9itTjJspsF-2F95snQabRd7SxgxgfVerhcFLFFNmPY8wFJX3w-2BcobNpu67xqmWhrl0DI8wZzeSdzFOzgsJS6nUOYF-2B1dvxNO2iQvqRAw6ig-3D" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Aaron Shelby</a>&nbsp;Board Member of Carroll Shelby International and grandson of the company founder.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong><em><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9v2hQ19IsCE&amp;list=PLqHGtag9OqkCgjWimhHj8sj6pctiFYUIl&amp;index=6&amp;pp=gAQBiAQB">Post your Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT questions or comments</a></em></strong></p>

<p>The Shelby add-on package pricing starts at €24,900 which was about $27,487 US at the time of this video’s posting.&nbsp;</p>

<p>That cash gets you a carbon fiber hood splitter, lightweight custom wheels and a handling package that lowers the GT. The modifications can also be retrofitted to 2021-2023 Mach-E GT’s in Europe.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Other available modifications include carbon fiber mirror caps and door trim, racing stripes, custom matts, Shelby badging and a Shelby CSM ID number.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Borla’s Active Performance Sound System that mimics the sounds of a big V8&#8217;s exhaust is also included.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“One of the biggest complaints about EVs is the lack of sound, which is an important visceral component to motoring for enthusiasts,” said Vince LaViolette, Shelby American Vice President of Operations. “That is why we integrated Borla’s Active Performance Sound System into the Shelby Mustang Mach-E. This ‘auditory connection’ really intensifies the sensation and excitement of EV driving. Our Shelby Mustang Mach-E is the first production vehicle featuring the new Borla system.”</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="682" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/unnamed-1024x682.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2506" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/unnamed-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/unnamed-300x200.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/unnamed-768x512.jpg 768w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/unnamed.jpg 1465w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">A photo of the Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT&#8217;s Borla &#8220;exhaust&#8221; system. | Photo credit: Shelby American</figcaption></figure>

<p></p>

<p>Borla’s Active Performance Sound System mirrors speed, power, RPM, torque and load with zero latency.&nbsp; You can hear the exhaust sound in the video at the top of this post.</p>

<p>For collectors, perhaps most importantly it will be eligible for documentation in the official <a href="https://u7061146.ct.sendgrid.net/ls/click?upn=4tNED-2FM8iDZJQyQ53jATUbV4QgEpHsG6V9iBybMqMCczg7zbun7cFeOBHiluLc1JI2uR_Ogxrqw9inQn5RTOXLLaRZF-2BaJKuSIs5Tw-2B9lwnHhAbgMf-2BRit2OBlBZIygKDP87k0wXsh8iCiiOBZJMO7W2DyPEKVR116EnsCc78OAmYr77ehk-2BkIARDyquH0NgchysdRhmLIbPXalzVbvKMF1nWIX6atgBQ4TZilRG3NKwtGBw6zDQQ85X8hf50geYAXfoAzGnyCN9UKAW-2Bhc8Ha7xXrxshPEsj5OTGCZW3rUrf-2F8wLmS8rHMU1r9eqyU-2FHk-2B7j6d-2F8sQlKnNzZuPff-2B8hqATKGSEHhg8gGz-2FutL425AGF5eaU-2BrpO-2FMfiFBF9GSNIIzY1hSGREYXc7CF6TGA3vYs6u1Ke2OuANGABbc66HCIs-3D" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Shelby Registry</a>. Shelby didn’t list any performance numbers in its news release.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-style-default"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1020" height="680" src="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/1020680p5059EDNmainimg-JV0A9975-1.jpg" alt="Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT | Photo credit: Shelby American" class="wp-image-2509" srcset="https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/1020680p5059EDNmainimg-JV0A9975-1.jpg 1020w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/1020680p5059EDNmainimg-JV0A9975-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://evrider.tv/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/1020680p5059EDNmainimg-JV0A9975-1-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT | Photo credit: Shelby American</figcaption></figure>

<p>Another words, it’s basically more for show than go. Chances are you won’t notice any 0-60 time improvement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While cornering might end up being a bit better than a stock Mach-E GT, I’m guessing it probably won’t top the stock <a href="https://evrider.tv/tesla-owner-dumps-model-x-for-ford-mustang-mach-e/">Mach-E GT-Performance</a>, which has an adjustable MagneRide suspension and faster acceleration than a stock GT.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp; The production modifications are based on the Mustang Mach-E GT concept that was unveiled at SEMA in 2021.</p>

<iframe loading="lazy" width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/pkiNvFwUldo" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<p>The first Shelby Mach-E GT will be limited to 100 modification packages to celebrate the 100th birthday of founder, the late Carroll Shelby.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The good news is this Shelby is just a starting point.&nbsp;“We are already seeking ways to substantially push EV performance, expand the product line and work with partners like rental car companies,&#8221; said <a href="https://u7061146.ct.sendgrid.net/ls/click?upn=4tNED-2FM8iDZJQyQ53jATUXY07IWuebxOqI3hGFhjP-2FhdC60E6S4d0RAhVvOCZZNWhLhH_Ogxrqw9inQn5RTOXLLaRZF-2BaJKuSIs5Tw-2B9lwnHhAbgMf-2BRit2OBlBZIygKDP87k0wXsh8iCiiOBZJMO7W2DyPEKVR116EnsCc78OAmYr77ehk-2BkIARDyquH0NgchysdRhmLIbPXalzVbvKMF1nWIX6atgBQ4TZilRG3NKwtGBw6zDQQ85X8hf50geYAXfoAzGnyCN9UKAW-2Bhc8Ha7xXr97GEK-2B94GBDT-2B174Sb-2FswbDTmLAOw3Q3u4hrzXNGREj-2BY89FuuVO2XqL-2F-2F0Kl63sKRSOoTVKVCFobx4qa8ShYNMy4ZKY9NoFboIy1rXPuUoxcAjpG7HeK1oJpJgzI3D8-2BLGzF3ZXswsMi5YsmmTPSE-3D" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Gary Patterson</a>, president of Shelby American.</p>
