This week on EV Rider we’re taking a ride in a 2023 BMW iX xDrive 50 owned by Cory France, who previously had a Tesla Model Y.

“We wanted something bigger than a Model Y and we wanted something with better range and we had a BMW gas powered car, an X3 and we love BMW’s driving dynamics. So we thought we’d give it a try. We test drove one up here in Jacksonville and we’re just blown away by the technology,” said Cory.

The video in this post provides a much deeper dive, but as far as a quick summary goes, BMW says the iX xDrive50 has 516 horsepower and 564 lb-ft of torque. 

It can get to 60 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds. Depending on how it’s optioned the iX xDrive50 has an estimated EPA range of up to 324 miles and can add up to 90 miles of range in ten minutes when DC fast charging.

The 111.5 kWh battery has a claimed peak charging speed of 195 kW.    

Like many EVs these days, the iX xDrive50 includes self-parking. BMW takes it a step further in the iX xDrive 50 by allowing the driver to record complex parking maneuvers such as parking in your garage. A demo of how it works is in the video.

The iX xDrive 50 includes BMW’s latest driver-assistance technology; including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking.
